  India's Retail Inflation and Unemployment Rate - CMIE Data - August 2022 In the month of this year, the country's CPI(Consumer Price Index) - Retail inflation is said to be 7 Percent. While the Retail inflation rate has been decreasing continuously from Last April 2022 which was 7.79 Percent. However, the inflation rate in August has again increased as compared to July 2022.  The said above inflation was slightly higher than the Market expectations. The Food inflation rate rose to 7.62 Percent in the month of August from 6.75 Percent in July 2022. Meat and Fish products were increased by 206 Percent, Oil & Fat by 192 Percent and Spices by 194 Percent. The rise in prices of Vegetables and Fruits also contributed to the rise in inflation in the month of August. However, Fuel prices have moderated slightly.  India's unemployment rate is rising again - CMIE During the Covid-19 Lock down in India, most of the workers in the country lost their jobs. This was especially the case in Informal employment. The lock down was extended in the following months as the number of Covid cases increased.  There was no major impact in the Food based industry due to unforeseen demand. The country's unemployment rate rose 23.52 Percent in the month of April 2020, which was seen as 8.75 Percent in March 2020. This was said to be unprecedented in the History. In April 2020, the unemployment rate was 24.95 Percent in Urban areas and 22.89 Percent in the Rural. Then in the month of May, unemployment rate was 21.73 Percent. It was seen as 10.18 Percent in the end of June 2020.  It is noteworthy that this rate, which then gradually declined and was in the range of 6-8 Percent during the period from July to November this year. The Nationwide lock down was imposed on 24th March, 2020 due to the impact of Covid-19. Many have lost their jobs because of this and it is being noted as a Recession Times. Especially, there is unaccounted numbers on Workers in the Unorganized Sector will greatly affect the economy of the country. The aforementioned monitoring centre will only take into account the number of workers in the Organized Sector. Rising Unemployment rate in India - A bitter data - April 2020 The news of the Covid-19 impact has been talked about globally for the past two months. In the Developed and developing nations, there was a lock down was imposed for more than a month. The total number of cases were exceeded 40 Lakh till date. The Covid-19 death toll is said to be around 2.77 Lakh and more than 14 Lakh people were recovered. The Unemployment rate in the United States has been rising for the past five weeks due to a Lock down. This is the similar situation for India also. According to the recent data announced by CMIE, the unemployment rate stood at 23.52 Percent in the month of April 2020. It was 8.74 Percent at the end of March 2020. As per the weekly ended data, the Country's unemployment rate were about 27.11 Percent on 3rd May. The number of people who lost their jobs in urban areas is higher than the Rural.
