 India's CPI Inflation rose to 6.52 Percent - January 2023   Post September 2022, India's Retail Inflation (Consumer Price Index - CPI) which had been decreasing for three months in a row, increased to 6.52 Percent in the month of January this year. However the said inflation rate is less than the level seen in April 2022 where it was 7.79 Percent. It is noteworthy that the current said inflation rate is above the Central Bank's Target of 2 to 6 Percent. In the previous year, January 2022 the retail inflation stood at 6.01 Percent. The current said inflation rate of 6.52 Percent in the month of January 2023 rose due to Food inflation. The Food inflation was increased to 5.94 Percent. Like the housing inflation prices were also increased by 4.62 Percent and Tobacco products by 3.07 Percent.  India's CPI Retail Inflation to 6.01 Percent in January 2022 CPI(Consumer Price Index) Inflation, also known as Retail Inflation rose to 6.01 Percent in the month of January 2022. It is noteworthy that the Retail inflation rate has been volatile in the recent few months post Covid-2019. At the same time, India's Unemployment rate has dropped slightly. The Unemployment rate for the month of January was around 6.57 Percent - Urban contributed with 8.16 Percent and 5.84 Percent in Rural. For the past few months, the Unemployment rate in Urban areas has been higher than in Rural Areas. The current said CPI Retail inflation for the month of January is above the Central Bank's near term target. Due to the rising prices of Food inflation, it went above the 6 Percent rate.  India's rising retail inflation - Consumer Price Index in March 2021 Inflation in India, since 2012(Base rate of 100) is estimated in terms of Retail Inflation. Significantly, the WPI(Wholesale price index) was previously calculated. At the end of March 2021, the Retail Inflation stood at 156.8 Points where the country's CPI Retail inflation rate rose to 5.52 Percent. It is noteworthy that the CPI Inflation in the month of January 2021 was 4.06 Percent. The current said inflation rate has been higher than the market expected. Inflation rose in March due to high prices in Food products, especially in Pulses. Food Inflation stood at 4.94 Percent at the end of March, up from 3.87 Percent in the month of February. The prices of Pulses has increased by 13 Percent. At the same time, the Vegetable prices declined slightly to 4.83 Percent.    Fuel and Light prices rose from 3.53 Percent to 4.50 Percent.   Retail Inflation rose to 5.03 Percent in the month of February 2021 India's Retail Inflation(Consumer Price Index) was 4.06 Percent in the month of January 2021. According to the recent data, the retail inflation have risen to 5.03 Percent in the last month - February 2021. This is significantly higher than the Market Expectation of 4.83 Percent. The CPI Inflation rose in the last month, due to rising Food Prices. Food Inflation which were stood at 1.89 Percent in the month of May 2019, is now 3.89 Percent in February 2021. Similarly, the Pulses has risen to 12.54 Percent, where the Vegetable prices declined slightly to 6.24 Percent in the said above period. Clothing and Footwear were increased to 4.21 Percent from 3.82 percent. Tobacco and Housing prices were also increased. The prices of Fuel and Light fell to 3.53 Percent from 3.87 Percent.  India's CPI Retail inflation to 4.59 Percent in December 2020 The Retail inflation is also known as the Consumer Price Index, ended lower than the market expectation in December Last year 2020. It is noteworthy that the RBI has a short term target of 2 to 6 Percent on Retail Inflation. The CPI Retail inflation has been out of control for the past several months, far beyond the Central bank's target. With Bank interest rates falling, the CPI inflation rate had caused some apprehension. But it ended unexpectedly in December 2020 at 4.59 Percent. Earlier it was 6.93 Percent in the month of November 2020. The above December inflation is said to be the lowest rate seen in the last 15 months. This is due to the low prices on Food items.  India's Retail Inflation to 6.93 Percent - CPI November 2020   India's inflation rate has been rising in the current Financial year 2020-21. The CPI(Consumer price index) Retail inflation, which stood at 5..84 Percent in the month of March 2020 and then peaked at 7.6 Percent in October 2020. The said 7.61 Percent rate was said to be the highest in Six years. According to the RBI's Inflation policy, the retail price inflation target has been set between 2-6 Percent in the short term. However, the Inflation for November 2020 stood at 6.93 Percent. For the eight consecutive months, the country's retail inflation rate has been rising above the Central bank's Target. It is noteworthy that this rate of inflation is said to be Four months low. India's Retail Inflation rose to 4.62 Percent - October 2019 The CPI (Consumer Price Index) - Retail Inflation for the month of October 2019 has risen unexpectedly to 4.62 Percent. It was 3.99 Percent in the month of September 2019 and 3.38 Percent earlier which was seen in the month of October 2018. CPI Retail Inflation rises to 3.99 Percent - September 2019 India's Retail Inflation (Consumer Price Index) rises to 3.99 Percent in the month of September 2019. It was seen as the highest Percent in the last 14 Months. In the month of July 2019, the CPI Inflation for India stood at 3.28 Percent. The Current said Retail Inflation is slightly higher than the Forecast of 3.7 Percent for the September 2019. CPI Retail Inflation rises to 5.21 % - December 2017   The Central Statistical Office(CSO) recently reported the Consumer price index (CPI) retail inflation for India, its rises to 5.21 % in the month of December 2017.    India's retail inflation for december 2017 is at 5.21 percent, and for the November at 4.88 percent, the october had its 3.58 %.   The current inflation of December as it had the 17 month high, since in the mid of august, 2016.   Food and beverages stood at 4.85 %, Clothing and footwear at 4.8 percent, and the housing, energy with 8.25 percent and 7.90 % respectively.   Earlier, the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) expected inflation for the second half of the financial year 2018, is between 4.3 to 4.7 percent. But it had crossed the expectation mark.   So, may the RBI changes the rates in the upcoming policy meeting.
